  i don't know if anyone has been following the competition but it has caused rioting in the streets of all the main cities and towns of brazil with people up in arms over the cost of staging the forthcoming world cup whilst health, education, employment and transport is failing badly.
  
  the authorities have lost control of the situation as brazilians do not usually demonstrate in the streets and also the main protestors are from the middle classes not the favela.

  I watched the penalty shoot out between Italy and spain

  excellent game. the passing was superb and as you say the penalties were straight out of the text book.

  I have watched when I can and thoroughly enjoyed it, really looking forward to the final Sunday between Brazil and Spain at least I would be if I was not working

  should be a veritable feast on sunday one can only dream of england attaining the standards that brazil, spain and italy have set in this beleagured tournament.
