Condensing boilers and waste water

  john prescott gave away £400 for people to get the most up to date boiler
  the condensing boiler , which we have , we had the first year problem of the outside pipe freezing up and causing a shut down mid winter --- but everyone knows how to fix that now
  now in 2012 with a hosepipe ban around the corner , we notice that to get a sink full of water first thing in morning with no heating on , we waste about 2 and half buckets of cold water before the water gets to the right heat , so if everyone in the uk with one of these boilers do the same that is a lot of water being wasted

  From the fact that we use drinking water to flush our waste, on down to the rain we spurn and send to meet the waste...only to filter and chemically treat it and send it round again...it's all 'easy-come-easy-go'.
  
  I live in a live-water-only home. No hot water tank, no attic storage tank either. Housing has taken on the philosophy of the air-liner designer. Where space saved in the one allows for more seating the other means one more dwelling per plot.
  
  Easy-come-easy-go, makes Grand Designs grand and lesser works somebody else's problem and short-term gain.
  
  But, it is 'only' a few pence per litre as it is only fractions of a pence per discarded drinks can.
  
  The solution is...simple. Let's keep it simple. Stupid not to. [KISS (keep it simple stupid)]

  Ron, we have the same situation, here's 3 possible solutions -
  
  Only turn on the hot tap when the central heating's on, you just get 1 bucket of cold water
  
  Save the 2 and a half buckets for watering the garden (what we do in summer)
  
  Move the sink nearer to the boiler

  Solution number 4;
  
  Fit a water divert-er to the waste pipe outside to fill a butt. Alas, in most situations it would mean either an underground butt or a small pump.
