While there were 20+ police personnel swanning around and socialising in Pencester Gardens, all the local boyos were riding their bikes up and down Biggin St with total impunity.
Can someone tell me what this extravaganza cost the taxpayer in terms of police time, fire brigade time, DDC officer time in organising it, also the cost of the Environment Agency tent and people to man it?
And why, if a footie match shown on the big screen attracts the sort of anti-terrorist measures we have seen recently (and will see again tomorrow, in all probability), did the police not insist on cordoning off all the roads within 200m, and placing dustcarts as anti-car-bomb devices for this event? There were more people in Pencester Gardens this morning than were watching the match last week.
PG.
