As far as I am aware the Community Pay Back have been painting all the railings around St Mary's Church area in the last few weeks and making a good job of it.
Where they go to do their work is up to the Probation Service but I know they are always looking for new ideas on projects, so if you have one why not contact them.
I do see and talk to some of those on Community Pay Back when they are at the Mill doing work and a good number do take pride in the jobs they are given and it is not all about litter picking. We have had tradesmen on Pay Back at the Mill and we have made use of their skills. Carpenters who have renewed window frames, electricians renewing lights and builders laying paths etc, Those on Pay Back are not all wasters, yes they have gone off the rails in one way or another but a good number take it on the chin and would rather complete the hours given to them with useful jobs, which in turn does benefit the community.
