They can't clean up derelict properties if there is a commercial gain to be had from it.
They could have been used for planting in the Town Centre ( they were when I was Dover Business Support Manager a couple of years ago). I did say that they should be used to paint/stain the benches in Town and the railings too.
The District Council would like to enage them more, but I see very little evidence of it. They could be used to weed along the streets - the next contracted weeding session is not till September.
Volunteers have done most of the above (apart from weeding) and well done them, but I do think we should be using these offenders more. Folkestone Road could do with them - maybe after the dustmen have been, but also for weeding.
