Just to let all those who live in the Priory area of the Folkestone Road (and those who live outside of it if they wish to come along), that there is to be a Clean-up Day this coming Saturday, the 21st.
It is being organised by the District of Dover Community Safety Partnership at the Community Hub at the end of Winchelsea Street, off of Folkestone Road and is a good opportunity to help keep the area and surrounding streets clean and tidy and restore some pride in where we live.
It is starting at 09.30 at the Hub, so please tell your friends and come along. There'll also be refreshments.
An update on the Community Hub, held on Wednesday's at 4.30.
* Well attended, some evenings we have had 50+ young people through the door
* Some families attending but we would like to see more
* The Firefit was a great success and will run again in the future
* A KFRS Home Safety Workshop will run next week
* Many of the young people attending expressed an interest in boxing and KFRS have secured funding for a 6 week programme that will run in conjunction with a local boxing club
* We had our first cooking night on Wednesday night and a couple from France who live in the Folkestone Road were cooking Crepes - we are going to compile a recipe book with hopefully recipes from around the world.
* Ideas for a community garden / mural are being explored
* Valentines and Mother's day card making was a success
* Health Trainers, No Smoking Service and Health Checks have all been in attendance
* We have workers attending who are trained in rapid English and some of the attendees have benefited from this
* Since the Hub started we have had no reports of ASB into the CSU
* The Police Contact Point (PCP) has attended the Hub and plans to attend on a regular basis
* The Youth Bus attends and is a great resource for the young people
* Agencies regularly supporting the hub include, Kent Police, KFRS, CSU, KIASS, NHS, Turning Point, Migrant Help
In addition the KCC Wardens and myself are organising a Community Clean up on Saturday 21st March in the Folkestone Road Area - we will be meeting at the Hub at 9.30am and it would be great if you could join us and spread the word with the community to attend. We are hoping to organise a small tea and cake event afterwards to those attending.
