Looks like I will have to lobby my County Councillors for grant funding.Competing with Dover groups now.I and several other residents would like a community garden in our recreation ground.First hurdle to over come to persuade the Parish Council to release the land currently used as a playground. Our children already have had two new areas of play in the past year. Loads of picnic benches, plus gymn equipment nothing for us oldies who campaigned to keep the rec.
One of our elderly residents aged 94 has just died ,a true village champion for all ,past president of the WI,Also River Gardner’s and Chairmanof the Village Hall.Helped to organise River Fetes in all a “life well lived”,
I have people prepared to help me .One part of the garden would be devoted for people who are blind .People with disibilties .
It would cater for a large number of residents .River has a large population of residents over seventy.
