Mr Waggott became quite angry with me when I pointed out in a round table discussion that £100,000 was less than 5 months of his salary. I had not intended him to hear but had not noticed that he was standing behind me listening at the time. I also expressed the opinion that decisions about the community fund ought to be taken after the community directors had been appointed, not before, and that DHB were putting the cart before the horse in doing it this way round. Community directors will thus have no say in the structure and initial set-up of the fund. I believe this is deeply flawed as all the important decisions (concerning the HRO also) will be taken before there is any community involvement in the governance of the port. At the end of the meeting I sought him out to offer an olive branch but was dismissed extremely rudely and accused of being personal in my comments.
