Here in Dover we have two Rotary Clubs, The Lions and at least ten Masonic lodges, all of whom do fund raising events and functions for the town. We have the Dover Society, The Western Heights Preservation Society, The Castle Street Society and the Hellfire Corner group, all raising and looking out for Dover's heritage and historical sites. There are quite a few community and special interest groups looking out for residents and their interests. And, of course, we have two carnival courts with two 'courts' of girls going around the country to many different functions and events, all winning awards and recognition for Dover. The town benefits from getting a summer carnival and a Dickens' Festival and/or an illuminated parade.
So can anyone tell me why it is the fact of two carnival associations that everyone obsesses about?
