Was it smoke or a funnel like cloud in the centre ?
Irregular cloud structures . These could be thought to be vapour trails other than a jet had passed nearby displaying an original trail.

09:4281412Seems to look alright Paul on the face of it. have just had a look at the background to it and all the codes seem intact.
Either have another try or pop them over to me.
One thing...in the upload box that is used for uploading, dont delete anything from there when the upload is done, just close it.

12:3781428Lovely images. I agree - I reckon these are vapour trails. The very low angle of the sun illuminated the trails from the top in the first picture causing the shadow to fall beneath thereby creating a lovely contrast. Really beautiful.

18:0781471Depending on the atmospheric conditions, jet-trails can linger about and disperse gradually, and resemble odd-shaped clouds. But I'm not too sure if they are actually vapour, which would imply water. More like exhaust trails.

11:1981607Lovely pictures Paul. I think the background clouds are Cirrus, and the long thin ones are aircraft contrails which are caused by the passage of aircraft through the atmosphere: they are thin and white cirrus clouds which follow a single linear path. They are often short lived although they can sometimes be very persistent.
