My very clever daughter, not only baked this beautiful cake, but each individual leaf and berry is modelled from sugarpaste. Thought this was a good follow on to a previous thread about walks in the countryside.

Lesley that is absolutely stunning

I can bake but my icing skills are sadly lacking, well done to your daughter.

work of art seems a pity to eat it.

When a sentiment most comely
and heart-felt, you would make
there's no medium more lovely
than when it's writ upon a cake

Thanks Kath.
There is a great deal of detail and artistry in the decoration, but I hope that did not hold anybody back from the enjoyment of eating it too.

Do you eat a cake that looks like that.

Thanks for your comments everyone. It really does taste as good as it looks. The decoration can be removed and stored or frozen. Vicky is currently unable to work but is looking into the possibility of getting some help with setting herself up in business. At the moment she only makes cakes for close friends and family, barely covering her costs, especially when you consider the time it takes to make the decorations. She has been greatly encouraged by the praise for her creations and will hopefully soon be in a position to take her ideas forward.

Your daughter need not bake a cake each time Lesley, an assortment of cake shaped 'some-things' for display and photographs would work equally well. Changing the base colour whenever she feels the need also.

What a fantastic cake, Vicky is certainly very talented.
Curiously enough, I have just been the recipient of a cake onboard my ship. I am 64 and the lads decided to take the mickey and make me a retirement cake, although there is no chance of that unless I win the lottery.
Here is the cake, with decorations showing me sitting in a chair watching telly with a fag in my mouth and a drink on the table. Rather accurate one has to say. Followed by pics of the lads tucking into it and the chefs who concocted it.

That made me smile, they seem to know you very well! Good to have friends like that.
Tom, I think you are refering to dummies which Vicky has used in the past. She is off to the job centre tomorrow for some advice regarding courses, i.e. Health and Hygeine, Business start ups etc. She is determined not to be on benefits and wants to be set up and ready to go when her daughter starts school next year. I am confident she will succeed and will be encoraging you all to place orders!

Good Luck to her Lesley.
Maybe the Channel Chamber or Dover Chamber could help her with business start-ups; there's also the Innovations Centre in Paultons Close.
