This would have been one of the best picture stories of the year..and yes exactly ' shame on you for turning blue' but alas alas there were no cameras anywhere near. Highly unusual these days that, as the politicians like to do everything infront of a camera, but he was in a radio studio. It was not an incident designed for radio. Ive heard of faces designed for radio, but radio no good for an incident like this. The perpetrator should have made sure someone recorded it.
Poor ol Clegg. How can a guy slip so far. One minute right up there, a PR mans dream, a politician sweeping all before him...then...the coalition agreement reared its monstrous head. He signed on the dotted line and the doom of the damned ensued, and Clegg endured the nightmare of... Tuition Fees. You have to give yourself a mental drum roll there before those words Tuition Fees.
Life is full of banana skins, you have to try and learn to avoid them, but dear ol Clegg hits 'em every time.

PAULB;
Clegg was indeed was looking good prior to th general election, then he sold his soul, put power before people.
now he will destroy his party, which is a great shame as the lib dems were at least advancing, far to slow for some, but did often hold the two major parties to account.
clegg and the lib dems know come the general election there time is up, the partys membership destroyed, party destroyed,
sad for any active lib dem member

Once you sell your soul to the devil there is no coming back Keef.
Clegg is a classic case of an individual who should have resigned. When the position becomes untenable there is nowhere to go. The media hate you, the public hate you, your fellow party members hate you...so in past times, when there was some honour amongst politicians, the man would have resigned, just like they used to. The philosophy has shifted these days, now the individual hangs around like a corpse at a wedding!
Even if Clegg gave out sacks of flour to every starving baby on the planet the public still wouldnt like him. Thats what we mean by untenable.

You are correct in stating that in todays media frenzy enviroment it was indeed strange that no-one was following Cleggs visit to Jockland. I think it goes it goes to show that the news companies who appear to be on hand for even the smallest of events obviously feel that Clegg is no longer newsworthy.
Keef
As for selling ones soul for a taste of power. He is destined to spend a long time in the wilderness regretting that decision.

I think Clegg was very brave to go into a coalition Government to help save the Country from Labour Government excesses.
They have also gained many Lib-Dem aspirations, but in doing all of this, have realised that it is much harder when in Government, to keep your pre-election promises.
Hopefully the Coalition will last the full term and the Lib-Dem voters will return and help keep Labour out of screwing up the Country's finances - like they always do.

roger;
if we are to get into this heavy politics lets be a little nice about it
clegg sold his soul and there is no return for him,
he chose his destiny trhe voters wont forgive him.
now we have the tories as usual tearing apart those most in need
so lets not bash one party.
we see the tories happy to do nowt about
1; banks high earners(even if they made a big loss)
2; scandal of the MP(BOTH LEGAL AND ILLEGAL)
3; LIttle to stop UK jobs being lost.
whilst i have my differences with the labour party
all parties have there faults and the sooner clegg/the co olition are replaced the better.
