It was mentioned on another thread that St Radigunds are has a problem with litter/flytipping and trucks being parked overnight. Not much councillors can do about the parking other than lobby the higher ups but they can organise litter picks, getting the community involved.
Tower Hamlets and Town without a Pier wards have councillor led clean ups as and when things get bad and we used to have regular ones in the alleyways in the Priory part of my ward and two of our councillors organised a mass clear up around Priory station a while back. Surely the councillors in St Radigunds should show more interest, there are 5 of them spread over the 2 councils.

Well said. That is what I mean by leading from the front. Cllrs organise and take part. That kind of involvement earns my respect and gratitude. And I am sure, that of many others.

Anna and Howard. That is why I believe councillors must live in their ward to be effective, working in it means they can go home at night and forget all about the mess they have left behind.
Where there are more than two councillors at least one should live in different part of that ward to be really knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the whole ward. Trouble is that will never happen.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

The lorry problem is something that has got consistently worse over the last 1.5yrs, there were discussions with the councils about doing something about it (including a large meeting at the community centre) but nothing yet has been done, in fact it has gone completely silent. This area just seems to be ignored by all three councils.
Coombe Valley Road is almost constantly truck movements at night and Poulton close is generally full with lorries parked overnight and often weekends.
I know Shepway and I believe Ashford has got to grip with trucks parking where they aren't welcome of a night with signage banning them and likely fines. but that would seem like too much work to be implemented in the problem areas of Dover?
Litter isn't too much of a problem, it just seems average to me but there are quite a few houses in a right state.
Fly tipping is an issue but it's been an issue pretty much since they started getting much more restrictive with the rules at the tip and this isn't just this area, but all over. It seems to me like the restrictions lead to more fly tipping and that in turn ends up costing us all more to be dealt with.

Shepway got to grips with the hgv problem a while ago unfortunately they only issue a penalty charge from 8pm to 8 am but only have their Ceo's out till midnight. DDC have introduced a total 24 / 7 hgv ban in Poulton close and Hawkesbury street up to Channel view road weekends seem to be worse where ever the hgv's gather so good on DDC for getting to grips with this problem. Can't speak for Ashford but a pal who lives in Gillingham said that overnight hgv parking up there is also a pain and their c.e.o's are busy at night time to ticketing offenders. The filth these drivers leave behind them is also a constant nuisance for residents living nearby and this problem even extends out to Aylesham with a relative telling me it's disgusting near the industrial unit's out there but did say she saw a c.e.o ticketing lorry's.
