    Some observations

    a) Rastani is a "day trader" who over the last 4 years has amassed a loss of £10k on his trading activities

    b) he lives in a semi in Bexleyheath owned by his female partner

    c) fund managers charge an investment management fee for looking after your money and then pay all their costs out of that - most actively managed funds for institutions (excluding property) are charged around 35bps (0.35% of the assets held) per annum. On top of this the fund will have to pay market transaction costs, brokers commission, fund accounting, transfer agency and custody/safekeeping charges this amounts to probably somewhere between 0.6 & 1.15% depending on lots of variables but generally the larger the fund the smaller the percentage charges.
