I think that this idea will do nothing for smoking other than to annoy the shop staff who, when faced with a queue will have to stop and check lists of brands and prices then open and shut doors to sell the product. More worrying to me is the fact that a government that keeps telling us how much work there is to do sorting out the economy, planning wars, fixing (selling off) education and the health service) felt it important to spend so much and waste parliamentary time on such a pointless measure. How about lowering the tax on booze sold in pubs and putting it on to supermarket sales, wouldn't hurt the supermarkets but could save a lot of pubs?
