noticed this morning that the co-op is opening for business at 8 a.m. on boxing day, everyone else is closing for two days.
i really do not see the point, the co-op does not have free parking so the vast majority of their customers arrive on foot.
there are no bus services on boxing day so it will mean very little trade and a lot of inconvenience for their staff.
does anyone actually need to do food shopping anyway, we all know that many overbuy for the holiday period and a lot of it is wasted?

Could this be an opportunity for local Labour councillors to make-up for their taking a day off earlier in the year? Volunteering to man an old-style counter service.

not on the evidance what i saw this at 0800 this morning in morrisons.needed an armeourd carrier to get around,as it was packed like a sardine can.

exactly brian nobody nowadays would starve if the shops were closed for 2 days.
i reckon i could survive for a month if snowed in for example.
we all have fridges and freezers and usually enough stuff in cupboards to knock up meals with.

Called into Morrisons about 3.30 this afternoon for some last minute bits, and OMG you could not move some very nice young lads packing for you at the tills, think you are right howard how much of the food in those trolleys will be wasted.

The shop at Whitfield I think said it was open Christmas Day !!

i hope that is not true i thought stores over a certain size were not allowed to open on easter sunday and christmas day.
there was talk of a change in the law.

For those who are doing last minute shopping Morrisons open at 7.00am tomorrow, Saturday, my daughter has to start an hour earlier than usual at 5.00am.
Age Concern will close early tomorrow about lunch time I think and re-open on Wednesday at the usual time.
