18:4780152Yesterday, whilst walking into town for my newspaper and a coffee (whilst the boss listens to the Archers' Omnibus) I saw the Christmas Lights going up. Nothing special but just enough to add a little seasonal cheer to the High Street.
Today I've seen what they are doing in Derby! Way to go! Surely if we saved up our pennies we could get some of this stuff for Dover next year. Even I'd risk coming over to see the likes. Think what they could do with Dover Castle to project on to!

18:5880155Stunning - I wonder what that would cost for the castle and other major Dover buildings?

19:0080156Dunno Barry - but worth every penny to see Burlington House disappear?

20:0680171I saw this (poorly and watching the 24 hour news - sad!) and immediately thought of the castle. Fab!

20:1380174Dover Town Council are investing in some new Christmas lights - they are very expensive so we can't grumble - they ae doing their best and it is your money they're spending, so don't grumble at them.

21:1680188The Christmas lights now going up are all LED so that this year our electricity bill will be a fraction of last years. They will last longer and be a saving in the long run. Yes we have invested more this year but the results will be seen in following years and in any case the old lights failed their electrical test so would have needed expensive replacements anyway. The LEDs SHOULD not suffer from blown bulbs so winning all round.

22:0380197The lights used when EH launched the newly revamped keep at the castle cost over £100k - don't think we have that sort of money burning a hole in the Town council's collective pocket

07:3780234No we don't Ross, thank goodness.
Does anyone know why those coloured lights stopped, or was it meant to be just for a short time ?
