I've been picking up and dropping off children at the bus stop outside St Edmunds school for over three years now. Today I noticed something I've never noticed before - in the wall under the raised playground at Charlton school there's a door. Does anyone know what, if anything, this leads to? I know Dover has a lot of underground tunnels and rooms and wondered if this was one of them. I was interested a while ago whilst browsing on Youtube to find a video of rooms underneath Churchills in London Road discovered while building work was taking place. This town of ours has many secrets.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

When I was at Charlton Jacqui (from 1950!) it was used as a store. I've no idea how big it is though.

I think you must be confusing that with London Road Vic. To my knowledge it never was a "watering hole".
I have a memento from that one and will post in a couple of minutes.

Here is what was the London Road "Gents" now bricked up.
I have a picture somewhere in it's heyday with a DBC notice board between the two entrances.
This is my treasure.

loved that sign terry, reminds me of the comedians that would right something small high up on the tiles above the urinals.
