Wotcha, Charlie Richardson,
'es off to pay for wot 'es done-done
abetted by lily-law, around the law 'e would skirt
'e'd beat-up geezers then present them with a shirt

Exactly why we need to reintroduce hanging, tom
These people inspire the young to crime and violence,
Violence to prevent violence

...so 'the young' shall emulate the acts of some figure of authority on the small scale, but they will catch-on - not to the acts, but to the underlying reasoning behind the acts - of those in authority on the large scale? And no mother will get the wrong end of the stick and wonder why the unlawful killing of their child results in a prison sentence, while the killing of another mother's child shall be answered by the death-penalty.
A killer, drunk and employing a kitchen utensil shall die in his turn, but any and all drivers drunk in charge of their car that kills will still get eighteen months or so. Or should the knife and car manufactures bear the responsibility instead, or the distiller. Or should the killing of 'good' people require the death penalty, but the violent death of somebody less good will get prison or let off Scot-free, on a sliding scale?
Should there be testimony from two or more witnesses to the crime be required before the death penalty is on the table or will DNA suffice?
And when/if a mistake is made, what lesson will be learned? What if the mistake was yours, what if the mistake led to your execution?
What if you smoke or drink alcohol, the act of doing so will teach your children to do the same, what if your child then dies from a disease associated with either of the habits you have taught your child?...Or maybe a person you know and meet - once, twice, regularly, often and meet them in company with your child and it is this other person that the child emulates?...Dead is dead, right?
What if the stricken and near-death child were to come and kill you or that other person...Drag them from their hospital bed and string them up?
I do recall that the CofE did 'emend' the "Thou shall not kill." to "Thou shall not commit murder." So I see where the confusion can come from.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Let's have a democratic referendum on it, give the citizens there say
The victims get no remission no parole no privileges, just a life ended

dream on keith it will never happen, i think that if the issue was ever debated in depth the verdict would be no return.
