19:4191880for those who missed meridian news tonight charlie elphicke was interviewed from his seat of power in westminster.
the rumour going around is that the peoples port plan has hit the skids, not heard that myself.
charlie was very upbeat and confident and maintains that he is getting great all party support in the commons who see his plan as an example of the "big society".

09:1291919Brian just gets so tiresome Roger and seems unable to say anything other than to make inane, pointless, off-track jibes. Shame on him.

10:3491929Howard's rumour is probably related to an article in the Sunday Times (last Sunday) announcing that the government had given the go ahead to DHB to proceed with their aspirations on selling the port to the highest bidder. I made a few enquiries and it turned out to be,to say the least, inaccurate.

11:3491939Charlie is definitely getting a lot of support from all parties. Even Jon Cruddas supports the plan. But we believe the ministers charged with making a decision have put the file in the 'too difficult' tray and want to kick it into the long grass.

13:2291949there will be an outcry if that happens, it is a national story now.
the press will have a field day if d.h.b. sell it to an overseas consortium.

14:1291959The decision, Richard. We think the Minister finds the issues too complex and ground- breaking and hopes if she ignores it, it will go away. Charlie is planning to start raising the profile of the bid again soon- he hasn't said exactly how but I have learned to expect surprises from Charlie!
