received an envelope containing christmas cards in the post this morning from the "mouth and foot painting association".
the idea being that i send them back £.6. 95 if i like them with the option of buying more.
some years back i did purchase them and it came out later that a miniscule amount went back to the artists.
i have scoured their bumf for indication that they are a registered charity, no evidence there.
it just mentions that they are an association, does anyone have any more info on this organisation?

I always google the name of any company followed by the word scam or con or problems depending on the company I need to research.
So I'm not saying that this company is indeed a con but I'll draw your attention to this little piece below:

The price they ask happens to be the same price you were asked for Howard.

I got the same bundle and as far as I am concerned unsolicited mail is a free gift.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

I always used to get the Foot and Mouth (as I call them) cards when I lived at Castle Street and that's over 30 years ago. So it was a bit of a surprise when they dropped on the mat on Monday, they have obviously caught up with me!
As with all such things the blue bag beckons.

There is a charity Christmas card "shop" opening in Deal Library on the 31st October for various charities, I wonder if they will all be genuine?

I would expect the charities will have been checked, the question should be how much will your chosen charity actually receive from each sale, with us at the Age Concern shop it is 100%.

the latest scam to come through my letterbox this morning was a bag extolling "do not delay for yourself and those who love you".
it then details that is a clothing collection for a breast cancer prevention programme.
they are very careful to keep within the law no mention of it being a charity.

will do so martin but doubt that they would be able to do anything, there are many similar organisations that i get the collection bags from.
they do not claim to be charities but people think they are because of the heart rending message attached.

Even if they are "legit" as such it may be the people running it are not so any info on these collectors is useful.

Martin -
I have bought my charity cards at Deal Library, before, and they are genuine. And there is usually a very big selection you can browse.
A good percentage of the cost actually goes to the various charities which take part in the scheme, and there are a LOT of different charities so you can choose which charities you would like to support.
Thanks for this information.

Large assortment of charity Christmas cards will be on display and available at Deal Library from 31st Oct, 10am.
I shall be going, as have found in previous years they are well worth looking at, a big selection and big selection of charities, certainly all the leading ones.
Charities benefit by a large percentage off the money from sales.

While on the subject of cards, we now buy all our regular greetings cards from the Scope shop in the market square, instead of paying Clintons 2 quid a card, they are three for £1 and very nice they are too>

Ive been buying Christmas Cards from the MFPA for years and years and years. Perhaps twenty years, during that time they have followed me to various abodes and yours truly keeps shelling out as i always do ..thought they were a genuine charity. I always give them more than the asking price too. Although last year I forgot all about it I must admit. I have loads of packs unused as it is.
I too have just had my latest batch delivered complete with usual calender...again I dont need them.
Philip I made your link LIVE for you above. Interesting stuff on the links.
ps To make your link LIVE. Go to the SMILEYs.. there is an URL box there. Hit that, its opens in your posting box then type in between the two little boxes and bobs yer uncle.

Martin P: just to clarify, the Charity Christmas Cards shop in Deal Library (opening on October 31 until December 17) is very long established, well-supported, very popular, run by a dedicated band of volunteers and with a large range of cards supporting lots of everyone's favourite charities.
Pop in there if you are in Deal.
Cheers,
Andy
