This is not new. I remember a GP who came and spoke at a Young Conservative meeting back in the later 70's saying there should be an appointment fee. £25 is a bit steep though I agree and there should be some exemptions, unless they do not turn up, people over age 65 should be exempt for instance.

should this ever come in a fiver a go would seem the most likely figure, each appointment is for 10 minutes bringing in 30 quid an hour - quite a boost to the exchequer.

Fifteen pounds to include the first 2 items on the prescription. Same exemptions to apply.

I think it is completely wrong to charge just to see a doctor but I am for charging when appointments are missed.
What I object to are the unnecessary waste of money blood tests done by the every six months just because I am old and had high blood pressure a few years ago.

After listening to two doctors on BBC Breakfast this morning I got the impression this is possibly just a publicity stunt to raise awareness or should that be remind us that it costs NHS money every time an appointment is missed.
Maybe it would be a good idea to remind doctors that it can cost some of their patients money when he/she keeps them waiting a long time for that hard fought for appointment, in the past I have had to wait nearly an hour.

indeed it does cut both ways, i find hospitals are the main culprits rather than g.p. surgeries.

I think im feeling ill I agree with you again lol
I watched that interview as well
thought it was to be 2 doctors with differing views, not at all.
Quite funny when they were tried to justify there high wages.

The labour party, increased doctors pay 100 % in there time in office
And then they gave them the option of not working evenings and weekends
Now we have a situation of people queuing up, out side surgeries on the day to inshore they get an appointment , all du to labours targets mentality
The labour party just do not have a very good track record in government
I think this is because they are full of people that have no experience of normal living in society, there all middle class rich, coming from non jobs and university intern ships .
