I have had a response to my email, the salient points are these...

"...this is a public event, of course there will be a secure ticketed area due to the nature of the senior military personnel attending and for the safety of the public with a guard and band marching along with other platoons of standards, cadets and veterans. The seafront will not be closed at all just a short area of Marine Parade. There will displays of full scale replica aircraft, vintage military vehicles and costumed re-enactors plus a display by the Army. We hope the residents of Dover will come and enjoy this free event, and support the memory of these heroes. The flypast of the Spitfire is timed for 1400 to commence proceedings and the flypast of the Swordfish is timed for 1430 to bring proceedings to a close. Once the parade has dispersed the displays will remain for public viewing."

In addition: Yes the errors have been recognised and those responsible have undertaken to correct them. The correction is said to take place prior to the event.

This has come to us from: Malcolm C Godfrey, Vice Chairman/Secretary, Channel Dash Memorial Trust.

I feel pressed to reinforce the 'public', 'commemorative' and entertainment aspects of what is promised to be a thoroughly enjoyable day and a fitting tribute to those to whom we all owe so much.
