The meeting went on till quite late and it was passed by 8 for and 2 against.

Much discussion took place on the benefits to Dover, the benefits to the historic sites and creating as much surety as possible on the the stage payments for the Heights restoration - and the damage to the AONB.

It is envisaged that it will take around 7 years to complete, with £1 million paid, as work - any work, commences.

I do believe this will be a catalyst for future inward investment and regeneration with many of the applications that have slowed almost to a dead stop, will now be started up again - as stated many times last night "Dover is open for business".

You can't please all of the people all of the time, but this will bring enormous benefits to the people, businesses and the other historic sites and attractions in Dover.
