A lot of people in uniforms outside the Town Council offices earlier and what looked like a couple of Town Councillors in attendance. Does anyone know what it was all about?

Two Cruise Ships in today.
They would have been interested.
However, as nobody in the Town knew about this, not much hope.

One is a turnaround cruise so they would be getting off and heading home the other is an Aida ship, carries mostly German passengers I'm not sure but its a fairly safe bet there won't be many wanting to commemorate Germany's unconditional surrender to the allies!

From the photos I have seen there were very few members of the public in attendance, the Mayor two other Town Councillors and the DDC Chairman were there.

It was organised by RBL White Cliffs branch. Town Mayor and Chair of DDC were invited by RBL. It was advertised as an event by RBL White Cliffs Branch via their FB page and a number of FB invites were sent out to friends and followers on FB. It was not a DTC event, so I'm not surprised it wasn't on their website.

Seems logical to me that if the Mayor and other Town Councillors were specially invited then DTC would put it on their website.
Saw the photos on FB Sue.

Mayor? Councilors? Strange uniforms? Ceremonies no one seems to have heard about?
I thought the usual venue was in Snargate Street?

I am a member of the RBL and have been for many years and I was glad we got the one in Dover up and running and it has done so well, but I did say once it was up and running I would take a back seat, and I do not go to events anymore but I like to read what is going on and they have some very good workers and a round 70members,I have been asked a few times to go to meeting etcs but sorry to say I have not taken up their offer. But I wish them well and I know they will be there in ten years time.
