    Well indeed he did, I saw this live as it happened and yes a bit of a clanger. But then Ed has acquired the nickname because he was elected through the voice and power of the trade unions....and all those Tory supporting newsppaers like The Sun gave him the Red Ed title as a consequence. Cleary some of it has stuck with his colleagues. But then...it might just be a term of endearment to call him Red !!

    However the real problem for Labour here is the lack of momentum in his leadership. He seemed to start off well at Prime Ministers Questions and so on, wrongfooting supersmoothie Cameron by his direct approach which was refreshing....but this promptly followed by a period of absence due to maternity leave and the momentum was gone.

    He is now back and we will see if he can impact. PMQ today could be revealing.
