Caught in traffic.
- 14 December 2011 19:40142376I left work in river at 5pm, a 5 minute run home but not today.
A vets appointment booked for 5-30pm I thought no problem.
Getting to the old Paper mill everything just came to a stand still. Creeping forward bit by bit and drivers getting tetchy I started to think there had been an accident.
It took me 10 minutes to get as far as Cherry tree ave only to find out it was a recycle lorry going about it's business.
Main road blocked and side roads blocked = grid lock.
It now takes twice as long to service one home ( they have to take the bins back ) But WHY do they have to do this at the rush hour?
Bloody stupid.
Only just made the appointment after the wife had started walking with the dog and I picked her up halfway.grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet. - Brian Dixon

14 December 2011 19:52142377i allso got caught up in it down town,the 1640 bus from pencester arrived at prioy street at 1656 closly followed by the 1656 from pencester.the excuse a recycle lorry bloking the road.both busses where packed. - 14 December 2011 20:20142383they normally start very early so i am surprised they are still working at that time.
maybe there was just a one off problem. - 14 December 2011 20:22142384They were in the same vicinity doing the same thing a bit earlier, around 16.00 ish. I think they have so much to do now that it takes them longer.
- 15 December 2011 00:02142413Yes here in non leafy Buckland Avenue we used to be collected soon after 6am on Thursday,I left for work at 14.30 and no bins empty,I know one of the bin men who lives near Howard and he did 12 hours today as things are much slower now.I hear that Roger Walton secretary lives in Buckland Ave so perhaps she will give his ear a good flicking.
Yes everyone is getting the message that I told the Council a year ago,this is not improving the waste/recycling it is getting worse.The rubbish was blowing down Buckland Avenue because the paper now goes in a box! The wind blows and the paper blows a way,who thought of that brilliant idea!If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble! - 15 December 2011 00:50142420Just think of all those Earth destroying carbon dioxide fumes the recycling lorry emitted. Why it's a crime against humanity and polar bears so it is.
Perhaps now people can see why the road to hell is paved with ridiculous and pointless intentions.
