Who will come out. Roof has sprung a leak. Probably just needs a couple of tiles moving. Don't want elderly mother ripped off.

You'll have a problem in this weather THD, they are all very busy. However, like Jan I recommend Alan Ball. They are excellent.

Allan does mine all the time. Very good and quick and not with silly prices.

Thank you everyone.
Booked up 'till February apparently. Nice to know a local firm is doing well but doesn't help our predicament.
Best I've got so far is someone to come and have a look on Tuesday.
Bit of a b****r as the leak is in a place where it's hard to put a bucket (or even get to tbh) and can only really put a shallow tray.

Will he need scaffolding? If not maybe if you explain it is for an 'old' lady and how awkward he might be able to slot you in earlier.

The 'elf 'n' safety gnomes probably insist on scaffolding for cleaning first floor windows these days

. A drone could take an easy look, but I'd bet that that service costs a premium despite being way more time and tool efficient.
I did try and have a looksie with the extending ladder we have today. (On my own. Not even anyone holding the ladder or anything. Get sacked in a workplace for that these days. Possibly). Misjudged it. It didn't even extend enough for me to extend my arms enough to even clean the gutters out, let alone see onto the roof. Could've cleaned the upstairs windows though.
Meant to say from the off about the elderly mother thing (plus see below). Got told February and just forgot I guess.

Quite.
What's really worrying is how I noticed it.
Knew it was raining. Then I thought it sounded like it was raining in the house. Automatically thought leak. Then realized it was the light switch right next to my ear fizzling away that I could hear.
Ultimately leak. But that's how I first noticed we had a problem. Not just a leak but a bit of an electrical hazard then.
Been going on for a while I reckon. Kind of embarrassed that I hadn't noticed it earlier given some of the other stuff I've noticed since (that should really have been spotted before).

Oh dear! That is a shame and how worrying.
Just had a thought would a visit to the Fire Station be productive, they are very good especially to the elderly where safety is a factor? Maybe they might be able to do a temporary repair as electricity and water together are a fire hazard and they would have long enough ladders.

That feels like a waste of The Fire Brigade's time tbh and I need not just a visual but a repair Button.
All much of a muchness as I am now on a work, sleep, repeat pattern for the next few days, so don't really have time to explore any avenues.

It was just an idea as I know the Fire Service prefer prevention visits to emergency call outs, especially where us oldies are concerned.
Never mind there is not much you can do at the moment as you are working for the next few days.

All sorted. Nothing too drastic thankfully. So if anyone needs a trustworthy roofer give this thread a bump (but booked up until next year apparently).
