  The problem is two fold, firstly the French Channel ports are so far away from Paris and other major cities that the French public other than near Dunkirk and Calais are not really interested so no pressure on the Government. Secondly I read what must be about a decade ago that with the endless stream of day trippers doing booze cruises, then the middle classes from Southern England buying up cheaper properties and getting the benefits of better schools and hospitals that the Nord Pas De Calais was sneeringly known as Little England
