  It would a logistical impossibility to search every truck and car coming through however many border force officers were involved. There just isn't the space in the docks to do this, it would mean ferries would take ages to discharge then reload causing drastic price hikes on crossings and more costs to the hauliers. Besides the obvious worry of fresh produce going off most business operate on a "just in time " policy to cut down on warehousing costs. We have that problem as it is without making things worse.
