  Even if the Belgian ports together had the spare capacity to handle the vast volume of Dover/Calais traffic the extra mileage the truckers would incur added to the much higher ferry costs would mean we would be paying vastly higher prices for essentials in the shops. Besides truckers need to know the quickest way to get a crossing, in normal times it is always Calais unless Dunkirk is better for geographical reasons, any change would mean them taking pot luck on which Belgian port had the next sailing.
