How quickly does the blood lust thing raise its ugly head on disparate threads. Hunting for food? A necessity in some times and areas. Hunting and killing animals for sport? No excuses, this is simply blood lust. If it is the thrill of stalking animals then do it with a camera or if it is a liking for shooting things then go paint-balling (of course it means the quarry can shoot back and that might not appeal to those who prefer their prey helpless). A noble tradition? Bear baiting, female circumcision, human sacrifice, slavery, cock fighting, infanticide all come with centuries of tradition (but not fancy costumes and jolly drinking) so should they be preserved?

A fox will make a mess of a hen house if it gets in looking for food, more of which it can find in peoples rubbish, but then they will also eat rabbits which can damage whole crops. Feral cats can cause problems but they are dealt with by controlled spaying etc and not with red coats and packs of dogs.

The ban was a step in the right direction, although it was badly worded and enacted, for a civilised society. The constant raising of it is little more than a distraction from the countries and the laws real problems.
