I had a big dust problem recently with a new camera I bought at the start of the year. It's a compact camera, a Samsung EX1 with f1.8 lens. It reminded me of the old days when f numbers were all, I liked the f1.8 so i bought it as a general back up all rounder.
In fact i took the picture currently at the top of the frontpage with it yesterday.
But after about 8 weeks of ownership I noticed loads of dust inside the lens. Not good thought I in a new camera. I had bought it via the internet from Jessops, so we realised after a bit of research that they have a shop or two in Canterbury so we set out for there. They were very helpful and recognised it was a problem for a fixed lens camera to be showing so much dust and debris inside the lens. They took it from me and replaced the whole front section of the camera including lens and it was back with me in about 2 weeks... with no charge.
It was a good no quibble service, no problem at all.
If you have bought it from a big store Ian take it back there, if not it might still be worth talking to Jessops as they may fix it for you but probably with a charge if it wasnt bought there. The shop that did the necessary for me was the one near the entrance to the Cathedral. They have 2 shops in Canterbury.
