    Howard, my point was that it would not do for candidates to stand at local Concil elections unless they really had the intention to win and therefore do the job if elected.

    In other words, I was opposed to the idea of paper candidates who, once registered for the vote, would not do any campaigning so as not to be elected. In fact it would be unfair on the voters and on candidates from other parties, and would have effectively let in Labour through vote-splitting.

    But in Dover and Deal, as Andy Cooper mentioned a few months back on the Forum, the UKIP members in general were against the idea of paper candidates, which means that common sense prevailed.

    Adding to all that, I've always maintained my support for UKIP, and have already posted an article last night the web in support of the party.
