Agree with Alan. I have already suggested something like this. The cable car project was going to cost £3.5 million just for the feasibility study! Thank goodness I shall be out of The Gateway before I have a cable car swinging past my bedroom window. However, living as I do on the 9th floor, I am well aware of the winds that would make it extremely hazardous. I do not understand why the powers that be think it would be a viable project. Do they really think that tourists in their thousands (or even hundreds) are going to hop off the ferry in the Eastern Docks and then say, lets pop along to the other end and have a quick trip on the cable car? It will be a project like the White Cliffs Experience - no doubt award-winning at first and after a few years dead in the water (or air!).
