Cabinet meeting today
- 7 October 2019 07:49359673The district council cabinet meets this morning and among the items on the agenda are two which might be of interest.
The first concerns the deterioration of the St James' Church remains at Woolcomber Street where various repairs are being recommended.
The second is an item about the cafe provision at Kearsney Abbey where the work on restoring and extending the former cafe seems to be taking ages. Mysteriously, the papers on that item are classified and the discussion is due to take place in private. Hopefully we will hear afterwards what is going on and what has been decided. - Captain Haddock

Dr. Hunter S Thompson - 7 October 2019 21:31359676The only possible controversy about St James' church that I can imagine is that they are discussing it with a view to no further financial commitment. As to the restoration of the Kearsney Abbey cafe, by all accounts it has been a bit of a farce, seemingly taking forever due to lack of resources and activity. Perhaps it is feared that open discussion of this would show them in a bad light.
