Why were Police not contacted?

That's the bit I don't get, if nothing else a crime number would be needed in order to claim on the insurance.

I suspect it will not be worth their while to claim on insurance their excess figure is probably more than the cost of a replacement.
I agree about your strength comment Howard, reading between the lines maybe that is why the police were not called.

Bus Companies have their own national insurance company which only covers third party. I am sure the police will have been informed, it is normal practise. If they can catch who ever did it, then they will try to reclaim the costs from the person or their parents. It often works..
The normal way of pushing a window out is by kicking it out, laying on the seat and just simply kicking out. It has happened before where some lad is trying to show off how clever (not) he is. However most of the buses now have camera's, and also you often find with school. buses someone will drop in a name once they find they are all in trouble.
