  Recently someone sent me this image; the bungalow is near the Royal Oak on the New Dover Road at Capel.

  This was at one point a cafe/take away, later turned into the White Cliffs pub. Owned by the same person that owns the caravan sites.
  Million-to-one chances crop up nine times out of ten.

  it must be 3 years now since it has been in that state, had no idea it was previously a pub.

  Ah yes Maggie its been like that for quite a long time, a true blot on the landscape. Quite a nice little house so one would have thought it would have been repaired by now. Maybe its entangled in the courts. I didnt realise it had been a pub either

  As Brian says it was a nice little cafe back in the 70's which was also a shop for the caravans on the cliff opposite.
  
  We used it to buy milk and bread when we were forced to live in a caravan when homeless for a little while. We were in an ancient dump up the Old Dover Road not one of those posh vans I still remember the joys of no inside toilet facilities having three young children.

  At the Royal Oak next door you can still have good meal up there Monday till Wedesday £1.99 and they are very good and weekends £4.99 great food with no cost,get up there

  Wow, thank you very much! That's brilliant, and I knew people would know here ... and thanks to Paul for his pubs site (I visit there so often - terrific site!).
  
  The people who were enquiring live overseas now, but have very fond memories of the area and their family there. They remember a steep path down to the Warren, they say, and that when there was a cafe there the building was called "High Hope"

  Yes the cafe had a very steep path down to the Warren, the climb down used to frighten me, always felt safer coming up even though it was hard work.
  
  When we lived in that area the cafe was run by BR/Sealink Captain John Arthur and his wife, they lived just over the road.
  
  We all used to use the Royal Oak which was run by a local farmer Gil Green and his wife.
