22:0769404Wow Paul, excellent piece, and it show`s that Townwall street wouldn`t have to be shut in the process. I`ll watch that again before I finish today.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

23:3969419I can't see Burlington house coming down in the near future, with all the spending cuts envisaged.
Nor a DTIZ going up either, for the same reason. It seems it will be a struggle to kep the public toilets open!

12:3969477Don't get me started. What were they thinking when that monstrosity was built? It does not, and never has, added anything to the town, rather detracted from what would be a perfectly pleasant port. Ditto White Cliffs Experience, i.e. white elephant experience, and not even Maybrook House has been fully used. And what is this architectural feature of a round tower on the top of buildings, i.e. Marine Court and Old GPO building? Ugly and unnecessary!!

12:5969487I notice the Dover Discovery Centre (or should I say, Dov r Dis over entre") signage is looking like a copy of the "Sunshine Desserts" signage from "The Rise and Fall of Reggie Perrin".
Why can't it be fixed?

14:2369497It's true, D ver is fal i n to pi c s b t by bit.
Only trouble is, the bits we don't want stay where they are.

14:3069503I contacted KCC about the Discovery Centre some months ago and after some time, they wrote to me saying they will be working on it this Autumn I believe it was, so hopefully soon it will look good (again).

06:5469645The Roman Painted House now has a banner all the way across; it looks so much better than before, where it looked uncared for and neglected - a bit like the Discovery Centre.
One thing I did notice looking at the video of that demolition, the building was made of concrete and those machines were like giant aliens eating it and then spewing it out.
Burlington House is mostly metal and glass, so I'm not sure how it would come down; didn't know about asbestos though, an added complication.

07:5369651I do not know how many times I have said this over the years on the forum, in the local papers, at meeting,s in the town,so for the last time the coming down of the Burlington house as nothing to do with asbestos, this can be be taken down and got away very easy now not like ten years ago,it is not coming down because of the phone mast and platform on the roof of the building I told you all some four years ago it would not be down within the next 6years or so ,I will now say it will not come down within the next six years from today unless it becomes unsafe so lets hope that will be the case, but I do not think so.
