My friend in Saxon street was burgled today and me, 3 doors away heard nothing. Neither did her next door neighbour. They only took grabables like her spare iPhone and docking station and her son's gaming device. How can someone break in through double glazing and no one heard it? It also took 3 hours for the police to come round! I've rung round the neighbours and none of them heard a thing. I'm not sure what I wanted to say with this post but I'm stunned that this could happen in such a quiet neighbourhood.
I think we are all guinea pigs in the middle of an experiment for which they have forgotten to set up a control group!

That is awful news Jen and as you say no one heard a thing and in such a quiet neighbourhood too. Are you involved in a neighbourhood watch scheme there? I feel so sorry for your neighbour, even if they didn't take much, its the fact that they have broken into your home that must be such a shock. Hopefully she was insured for those items.

Really sorry to hear that Jen - it really is a horrible feeling.
As you know (?) we were burgled a couple of years ago - 5.15 in the afternoon; our neighbours either side didn't hear anything either.
Thankfully he cut himself and they traced him through his DNA - he was a known burglar and drug-taker and lived round the corner from us.
I hope they catch him and teach him a lesson, but I doubt it - on catching him, or teaching him a lesson.

Jen
sorry to hear that news,
sadly these people are either
professional(plan what they do over time, watching places)
or chance people(do it at time chancing a house)
it must be awful

We have a very good neighbourhood watch scheme in the area which is probably why I'm so shocked. Everyone in my street knows each other and I know most of Norman Street. When we had a drug issue in the area everyone pulled together.
I can only assume that having a teenage boy means you have techy stuff in the house - we've got nothing like that in our house as I'm a major technophobe and really don't understand the point of most of it.
I'll let you know if anything happens.
