Two very telling lines in the developer's response letter

"It is massive investment in a run down and depressed area . It will enhance the whole area, creating homes and employment, along with a large boost in income to the local authority."

It isn't a run down and depressed area it might be that a lot of lower income families live in the area but Coombe valley rd itself has mainly privately owned properties, in the last 2yrs 2 new shops have opened, housing and flats built on the Barwicks site (architecturally pleasing high density, phase 2 just commencing) a new nursing home has been built, several new business have started in both poulton close and opposite the gas towers on Coombe valley, employment in the area sits at over 80%.

All comments suggest that rather than enhance the area it is more of a blot on the landscape.

    And then theres :
Essentially a bribe to the planners it will bring in more jobs and more money

In short line 1 is lies, line 2 is obvious.
