  just turned on south east news on bbc1, it was just finishing and the last picture was of buckland hospital.
  
  did anyone see the programme and enlighten me on it?

  the plot thickens alec, someone told me yesterday that the birthing unit had been closed due to cutbacks.
  
  i hope that is not true, it is/was the jewel in the crown of the hospital.

  I always understood from meetings that I attended - including DDC Scrutiny meetings, that no services would be taken away from Buckland until new facilities were operating in the new hospital.

  No special knowledge on this one but I suspect it is because of a shortage of either midwives or nurses.
