Actually it didn't go into the water until around 1315 this afternoon. I was there with my family to watch it fill with water as it was lowered into the Granville Dock. As soon as it touched the surface, you could see the water coming in. They left it for about 15 minutes to see if the rate of filling would slow, but it didn't, so they brought it back up and let it drain before bringing it round to the sea front on a trailer. Stood around meeting quite a few forumites and chatting before and after the speeches and naming before heading off for some much deserved fish an chips and beer.
Talking with the archaelogil people, it seems that they are now going to do some more work before trying to float it again another day.
