Broken window syndrome
- 29 November 2011 16:09139735this is the yoof centre in bench street, normally one window is boarded up, gets repaired eventually then gets broken again.
when i went past yesterday there are now 2 boarded up.
- 29 November 2011 16:19139737I dare say that whoever rents the place is obliged by the landlord to keep the place in good order. Hence the eventual re-glazing. What if, this time, after the windows are replaced they board-out each arched window space and had the 'yoof' adorn them with some festive scenes? Not a lot of use seems to be made of them at present in any case.
This whole thing may be emblematic of the wider UK economic scene. Smash what you have got, shore-up here and there with a hope of replacement eventually. The policies of George 7 Dave writ small.

Boarded-up windows always make an area look run-down - not good for the other businesses there.
