Just been to the Doctor's in Pencester Road and afterwards, when walking up Pencester, I looked ahead to where the British Bookshop and Sussex Stationers shop was and could see there was work going on there.
When I looked at the sign, all I could read was:
BRITISH
SEX
The rest had been painted out. Needless to say lots of people were looking at it and laughing - me included.
Pity you weren't there with your intrepid camera Howard.
I wonder if that's a sign of what the shop will be selling ??

Interesting that people are viewing this thread but not taking part in it. If that is going to be the response perhaps it would be better to locate the business in one of the out of town centre sites such as Kearsney Abbey car park!!

Many years ago when they were renovating the front hall and reception at the health centre in Canterbury, there was briefly a notice outside saying "Family Planning Advice - use rear entrance".

Back in the days of the old Dover manual telephone exchange the FP number was Dover 1. Perhaps Dover 2.4 might have been more appropriate.
Dover 2 was Crundalls by the way.

The post office has new signs to put in the window (no pull down blinds) - it reads:
'Please use an alternative position'
