Augusta Pearson When I spoke with the mayor in June she let it slip that "big things and events" were planned for 2018. That was the reason she had no plans to spend any money on "things like flags that are not needed" Wondered what she was on about but mentioned it to Phil Hayes who had been refused entry by the clerk..the event is planned for 10/11/2018, one in 10. So for every 10 persons who returned to UK after the war they hope to have 1 person attending. All to wear a red jacket. I just wonder where all those people will eat, sleep and go to the toilet because we have been told the public toilets will be closed after the next election. Most of the million pounds in the coffers will be spent on that 1 day event, I believe. The current mayor has aspirations of going down on records and our history as having been involved "right from the start" in this all time great re-enactment of that time. That is of course if she remains in office..... so were you asked in a public consultation if you agree to bankrupt our council's coffers for the edification of Mr mayor on a 1 day event? No, thought not. Still, the charity shops will do well for red jackets.
