For good measure here they are performing at our 2010 event their version of the Vera Lynn classic and Dover's theme tune....

So will this be publicised anywhere apart from on here. I was completely unaware of this last year. So many things seem to happen in Dover without any publicity, the recent event at the transport museum for example. I'd never had known about that if I hadn't seen it on this forum.

Colin - over the last week we have been putting up posters in many shops, café's and pubs in the town (and elsewhere). These are better produced and earlier than last year because, for once, we have some resources for marketing thanks to the 11.11 event. I counted six in windows in the town centre on Friday without even looking for them.
Banners will also be going up (a new initiative this year thanks to having some dosh for this).
There will be press releases too as usual.
We are on the MoD websites and have our own website promotions, as usual
The Facebook page is actively promoting it better than last year as we have an IT professional in the cadets looking after it who knows what he is doing.
We are also promoting it at events all over Kent including the Tattoo.

Ok, I've been away over the weekend so haven't been into the town for a few days. Hopefully I'll notice the posters when I do. I don't remember noticing anything last year but perhaps it was just me. It looks like a good event anyway and I'll certainly make a point of going.

We (WHPS) quite often get that 'complaint' but for a small charitable volunteer group there is a limited advertising budget to spread over a very wide area so we do rely on newspapers (and to be fair the Mercury and Express usually do a good job), word of mouth, Facebook and forums like this

Been nice knowing you :)

the last open day was advertised on the council board in town which must have helped and also signs are put up on the junction of drop redoubt road well before the event.
there will always be people that don't look at notice boards, posters in windows or read the papers or forums who complain that they knew nothing of the event.
