Does anyone know if there is anywhere locally where you can buy one of the breathalisers we will need to use our cars in Europe soon? I've looked online and can only find expensive ones and as neither of us drink it will only be to keep within the law anyway. Thank you.

i am pretty sure that the channel ferries will be well supplied with them as they are with all the other things necessary in france.
worth checking the p and o website for prices.

Have had my breathalyser for awhile now bought mine on line, uses two AAA batteries and can be used more than once, and was at very little cost.

Jan, surely a champagne socialist would need one that had enough battery power to do at least three tests a day. I've spotted a business opportunity!

just had this text in, worth a read as it is from a french national.
"the alcosense single use twin pack contains 2 x alcohol tests that meet the new french law that breathalysers must be carried by all drivers as of 1st july 2012.
(please note that only nf approved units are legal in france)"

For the risk of a 15 euro fine I probably won't bother, how often do you get check for the other stuff you are meant to have ??
I never drink when over the other side and driving so can't see the point !
Been nice knowing you :)

Thank you Howard. This does mean that the £5. twin pack I mention and link to in #5 is suitably approved.

Alas Brian no. The 'morning after' checker is not approved. Nice try though.
Mind you only the £59 one is available now....
