Boulogne Football Club promoted to French top flight!
- 30 May 2009 08:5822219Just to give you an update on our near neighbours - Boulogne Football Club (USBCO) beat Amiens 4-0 at home last night to gain promotion to the French top flight (Ligue 1) for the first time ever.
So if anyone asks next season who's our nearest top flight club, it ain't in London - it's 25 miles away across the Channel where Boulogne will be entertaining the likes of Marseilles, Lyon, Lens, Bordeaux etc.
A great week for Boulogne all told, what with that fantastic mega-catamaran Norman Arrow coming into Dover prior to starting the Dover-Boulogne service on June 6.

seems at first hand to be too small a town to achieve top flight football but obviously not and its certainly great news for your average citizen robespierre. Its a town much loved by the English, and this gives us all a chance to get over there and enjoy some football of the top flight. I think I remember from earlier notes...that its going to be £18 day return for the humble foot passenger on the new seacat. Michell Platini Fenchman extraordinaire and onetime footballer to the Gods, has a guiding hand over everything these days. Watched that marvellous Euro match the other night, best one for a while, and enjoyed seeing the magnificent Barcelona take Manchester United to the cleaners!
