the problem of the residents electing to dispose of their rubbish onto the property next door has been solved, a wall gas been built to stop them doing it.
however the front of the property on the folkestone road is not doing the area any favours.

nothing to do with recycling or bins philip, this is about sticking two fingers up at everybody else and showing scorn for behaving in an acceptable manner.

Well yes and no Howard. This problem has been made much worse since the new bin regime and nothing appears to be done about it. The reason we have the bin regime is because of what is known as renewable obligation certificates brought in by Brussels in order to combat, well you know.
Fines run into the millions if councils do not recycle enough.
So what's happened is that the local authority have dictated that we all have these stupid bins and then felt very worthy and good about themselves and thought that might be the end of it. Well it's not I'm afraid.
Not only have they made our streets even uglier than they already are they have managed to create a situation where this sort of thing is increased exponentially.
It's ludicrous frankly. I refuse to have these bins in my front garden even though there is plenty of space for them. The fact that these bins are an eyesore is not acceptable as a reason for not wanting them. So I'm refused purple bags and just take my rubbish to the tip on the way to Tesco.
So in the end who gains?
We don't.
Nobody does except the manufacturers of the wheelie bins.

sorry philip you have shot yourself in the foot here, you have made a principled stand against the awful bins but have donned your hair shirt and crown of thorns and have made your way to whitfield carrying it all on your back.
rather different to dumping it on the street outside.

That's exactly the point Howard. I could no more drop the corner of a chocolate wrapper on the pavement than leave rubbish bags on the street as pictured above. Honestly the guilt would be too much. I hate litter and I really hate litter we see on our roads and highways in our district. Which shows how shallow the local authorities thinking on all matters green. Try driving up the Jubilee way for example and see rubbish there that has been lying on the pavement for months and months.
Tick boxing pure and simple.
So instead of a concerted effort to make our area better they are happy to coast along until someone, as happened on this forum recently, complains then it's panic stations. "Oh noes it's bad publicity we must be seen to be doing something".

I have sent these two photo to DDC, along with the images I sent them on the old Boston Guest House on the 14th.
The wall built in the back garden was previously a broken fence and mattresses and other rubbish likely to attract rats, had been thrown over the plot of land next door - you wouldn't believe how absolutely awful it was.
It can only be a case of sticking two fingers up at DDC and the rest of the residents and users of Folkestone Road. I cannot believe that they think this is acceptable behaviour.
I think they should be prosecuted for Anti-Social Behaviour.

Rather strange that this has started to happen.
Needs to be nipped in the bud early
and explained to those concerned it can't happen

this is where ddc are in a no win situation, if they refuse to take rubbish away because it is in the wrong container they will be criticised for creating an eyesore.
at present they are taking anything away which sends the message that people can do what they want.

Look at the state of those steps! I expect there are many here who remember the smart town houses in Folkestone Road.
Looks like the "guest" hasn't changed from her pyjamas yet, too.

the dumping ground behind the hoardings is also in use, although a wall has been built to try and stop it, there is still a place for them to get their mattresses and other items through, this is not the only place where the rubbish has been left, all the lower end is in a terrible state, Folkestone Road has been a dumping ground for many years now, what with one thing or another, so to speak

I took photos of the dumping behind the hoarding Sheila and sent them to DDC.
After my email (to DDC), legal procedings are now being taken to have the rubbish cleared (at last !).
I do hope the Landlord advises his tenants that their behaviour is totally unacceptable and that they must stop this.
DDC waste services must also advise the tenants (again) that they must not put their rubbish out on the pavement - they have more than enough room at the back garden, even with their cars.
